POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN COUNSELLING IN SCHOOLS
Next Course starts January 2011

This one year certificated programme is for graduate counsellors preparing to work in school, schools counsellors wanting to develop their skills and knowledge and for counsellors just beginning to work in schools. The course is accredited by Wessex Counselling Service and we are also seeking accreditation from WPF Therapy

The course will have two themes: primary, for working with 5 – 11 year olds and secondary, for working with 12 – 18 year olds. Both themes will have joint course days for 7 of the 10 day programme. You are most likely to opt for one age group strand but some of you may also wish to attend both age group theme days. This is possible for an additional fee as outlined below.

Course days will run from 9.30 am – 5.15 pm and combine a mixture of presentation of theory, and other information, handouts, group discussions, experiential learning and case discussion. There will be an integration group at the end of each course day to give you the opportunity to process and integrate the training and to facilitate the development of the work.

The course is rooted in a psychodynamic framework but will incorporate other techniques, appropriate to working with children and forming a creative and rounded approach.
