![]() Professional and Affordable Psychodynamic Counselling in Frome and BristolWHO WE ARE Wessex Counselling Service is a non-profit making organisation which was established in 1983 with the aim of providing affordable and professional psychodynamic counselling. We are part of the largest national network of counselling centres in the UK and the service is accredited by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). All our counsellors undertake a rigorous training and adhere to the BACP’s ‘Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy’. Our policy on confidentiality within the Service also conforms to this. Wessex Counselling offers open-ended counselling and also Brief Counselling. Brief Counselling. We recognise that not everyone can commit to open-ended counselling .As an alternative ,we also offer a short-term option to concentrate on a specific issue -five sessions, once a week, for five weeks . WHEN COUNSELLING CAN HELP Counselling offers a space to work through areas of your life which may be troubling you. There are times when the causes of distress are clearer, for example if someone close to you has died, if you are experiencing difficulties with a relationship or problems at work. At other times the reasons are not so clear, but the feelings are just as painful. Sometimes friends and family can help, but it is not always easy to confide in those closest to you. At times like these, it can help to talk to someone who is not personally involved in your life. A counsellor will listen to you without making judgments and can help you find new resources within yourself. Please call us to make an appointment or for further information THE INITIAL APPOINTMENT First we will arrange for you to meet with one of our senior counsellors. This gives you a chance to explore some of the feelings that you may be experiencing and to decide whether you think that counselling will be of help to you. The meeting lasts 1 ½ hours and there is a standard charge. YOUR COUNSELLING Once the decision has been made that this is the best form of help for you, we make every effort to find a counsellor who suits your needs. You will meet with them weekly and each session lasts 50 minutes. PAYMENT We operate a sliding scale of fees, based on income, which will be explained to you at the first meeting. ACCESS Although there is ground floor access at our Bristol premises, our Frome consultation rooms are accessed by stairs. If you have a mobility restriction, please let us know so that we can arrange to see you at more suitable premises in Frome HOW TO CONTACT US You can telephone us on 01373 453355 either to find out more about our service or to make an appointment.
