Welcome to Wessex Counselling Service

Wessex was formed in 1983 to offer professional and low-cost counselling to people in the Frome and Bristol area and to provide professional and accredited counselling training to individuals in the South West, including Somerset and Wiltshire.

Wessex provides confidential, affordable and professional psychodynamic counselling for individuals and couples in Frome, Bristol and the surrounding areas. We are part of the largest national network of counselling centres in the UK and the counselling service is accredited by the Westminster Pastoral Foundation (wpf) and the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Counsellors at Wessex are professionally trained by us in the psychodynamic approach to counselling. We offer a range of training including basic Listening Skills, Certificate in Counselling Skills and a Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling. Our training equips qualified counsellors to continue their training onto an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy with Bath Spa University and onto a Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Programme with wpf in London.

We are a formally constituted organisation and a registered charity. We are located in King Street in Frome and Orchard Street in Bristol. Individuals come to us for counselling and counselling training from the whole of the South West, including Somerset, Wiltshire, Dorset and the towns of Bath, Bristol, Trowbridge and Devizes.
